Palomino Wayuu Mochila Bag
We are so excited & proud to offer you these hand-picked, fair-trade, one of a kind Colombian mochila bags. We traveled far and wide via plane, bus & scooter to find them and hand-carry them back just for you.
The Wayuu tribeswomen learn to make these mochilas from a very young age. Each bag is hand-crocheted from one single string and can take days and even up to a month to make depending on the intricacy of the design. They are known for their bright colors and unique patterns.
We purchased these directly from the women who make them and did not negotiate on price. By purchasing these bags from the women directly, they earn the best prices for their bags and are able to support their families financially.
We are grateful and proud that these women continue to uphold their tribes handicraft traditions and work very hard to provide a better life for their families. We believe in fair-trade practices and we are happy to have been able to contribute to their business.
Each bag features a drawstring with gorgeous large tassels along with a wide, sturdy shoulder strap that is comfortable for wearing both over the shoulder and across the body.
